Coaching platforms in Switzerland, compared

Revenue share, a self-built tool stack, a directory listing or a flat subscription — the four models differ less in features than in what they cost you as you grow.

We build one of these four models, so read us critically. The figures below come from publicly listed pricing, and we say where each model is the better choice.

The four models

How Swiss coaches usually set up

Same job, four cost structures.

Flat subscription (Roundwork)

A monthly plan plus a platform commission of 4.9% to 0.9% on client payments, depending on plan.

Good when: you want costs that stay predictable as revenue grows, and payouts on your own Stripe account.

Limit: you pay the base fee in quiet months too, and Roundwork is a young product with a shorter track record than the incumbents.

Revenue-share platform

No or low base fee, but a commission on every booking — Bondigoo lists 9.9%.

Good when: you are starting out, have few bookings, and want a cost that is zero in an empty month.

Limit: the cost scales with your success: the same percentage applies to your best month, and client relationships often stay tied to the platform.

Self-built tool stack

One subscription per tool — website builder, scheduling, payment links, video, accounting — plus your own time as the integration layer.

Good when: you have unusual requirements and enjoy owning every piece of the setup.

Limit: nothing shares a data set, so bookings, payments and VAT are reconciled by hand, and Swiss VAT stays entirely your problem.

Directory listing

A listing fee for visibility in a coach directory such as coaching.ch.

Good when: you mainly need reach and already have booking and invoicing running.

Limit: a directory is a marketing channel, not software: no booking flow, no payments, no calendar.

Worked example

A month with CHF 12'000 in coaching revenue

Same revenue, same bookings — only the pricing model differs.

Revenue share at 9.9%

CHF 1'188

9.9% of CHF 12'000, every month, rising with every additional booking.

Roundwork Pro

CHF 307

CHF 79 subscription plus 1.9% platform commission (CHF 228).

Difference per month

CHF 881

About CHF 10'572 across a full year, at this revenue level.

Stripe's payment processing fee applies in every model and is not included in these figures. At low revenue the revenue-share model is cheaper; the models cross over where the commission exceeds the subscription plus the platform commission.

Frequently asked questions

When is a commission model cheaper than a subscription?

While your monthly revenue is low. A percentage of a small number is small; a fixed plan is not. The models cross over once the commission on your monthly revenue exceeds the subscription plus the platform commission — the worked example above shows the arithmetic for one revenue level.

Does Roundwork take a percentage as well?

Yes, and we would rather say it plainly: on top of the monthly plan there is a platform commission on client payments, shown separately from the Stripe processing fee. It is lower on higher plans, which is why the total stays flatter as revenue grows.

Is a directory listing worth it alongside a platform?

It can be. A directory sells reach, a platform runs your day-to-day; they solve different problems. If your bookings already come through referrals and your own channels, the listing fee is usually the first thing to cut.

How do I compare providers fairly?

Work out the total cost at your realistic monthly revenue rather than the headline price: base fee plus revenue share plus payment processing. Then check two things that rarely appear in pricing tables — whether payouts go to your own account, and who owns the client relationship if you leave.
